I strive to be the man my dog thinks I am..

I wish I had said that, but actually I shamelessly stole it from Twitter. It's true, though. My dogs, Charlie, thinks I am noble and a hero. I do try to maintain a sense of integrity in my life, and sometimes that requires a heroic effort, so I'm close. What my dog doesn't know won't hurt her.

I've spent almost my entire life in the theatre, as actor, director, playwright, and administrator. It's been fascinating, exhilarating, truly an epic adventure. Also exasperating, exhausting, and frustrating. I wouldn't change a minute.

That brings me to movies, I would call myself a cinephile, but really I'm just a movie fan. I love them. I am particularly into indie/foreign films, and American pre-1980. I'm a big reader of both fiction and non- (especially history). Oh, and Agatha Christie! Also love traveling, architecture (contemporary and historical), and am a news junkie.

I am a proud liberal/progressive. For someone who, as a kid, witnessed the exciting activism of the Vietnam era, it has been disheartnening seeing what has happened to this country in the last decade or so, and especially since Jan 2017.. Vive la resistance!

I love experiencing other cultures, languages, places -- I can get by okay-ish in French, and can sort of stumble a little bit (a very little bit) in Spanish. Paris is the most magical city to me, but London is my favorite. Have had a dream about running around Greece with a hot guy on a motorbike ever since I saw "The Moonspinners" as a kid and still hope to make that adventure come true.

I would say I am actively spiritual and (currently) inactively religious.

I'm a non-smoker ... animal-lover ... and have been told I am witty by some who would seem to know. A sense of humor is practically the only way to survive life in the 21st Century. The quality I value first and foremost in others: kindness. Then, in no particular order, a social conscience, a sense of humor, and curiosity about life, the world, the mysteries of the universe...:) Oh, and sexiness. I can't personally define what makes a man sexy, but I know it when I see it and I appreciate it. And I also appreciate that sexiness is different for everyone.

Here's something else I stole, this time from Oscar Wilde: "I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read on the train."

If that's not a good life philosophy, I don't know what is.
