My life centers around learning and new experiences. I earned two advanced degrees, and I retired late in 2013 from a professional career as an environmental analytical chemist.

I want to be accepted as authentic and genuine. I have an engaging and intense personality. I am deeply empathetic. Because I want to see the best in people, I tend to be an easy mark for a con. I have been seen as gullible; but I am far from intellectually naïve.

I enjoy - and I am quite good at - domestic and home-making activities. I cook & bake, sew, knit, tat, sketch. I love to work with my hands. I benefit from moderate ADHD, and I am medicated for it. I relish classic fiction and modern non-fiction, typically reading three or four books a month. I am a regular reader of the "The Economist" news magazine. (At the moment, I'm on a Russian kick: Massie on the Romanovs, Dostoevsky, Chekov.) I'm a classically-trained baritone who came very close to a professional singing career in earlier days. I still sing as an avocation: weddings, recitals, community choir performance. Karaoke is awesome! I'm a sucker for lively, non-rancorous debate. I am a serious film buff: Sci-Fi; Fantasy; Drama; Comedy (non-camp); Classics; LGBTQ (any genre) - in that rough order.

I do not smoke (although I enjoy the occasional bud), and I drink only socially on occasion.

I enjoy men of all flavors. I particularly like friendly, talkative, cocky (macho, self-assured) guys; because I like to hear you more than to blather on about myself. My passion as a lover is - in my mind at least - intense. My libido remains undiminished from my youth. (I think, in fact, it may have intensified with age.) I perform best as an active bottom. Nothing turns me on like speaking, whispering, moaning my partner's name and similarly hearing my own name during sex. Things that really turn me off about a guy include unkindness, selfishness, control issues, bigotry, and careless hygiene (excepting, of course, man-musk from work sweat - which is an aphrodisiac for me.)

Among the few things in life I detest - in no particular order - are slapstick humor, reality television, willful ignorance, and termagants.
