Profile text: Hi! I am part of the moderation team here at SilverDaddies. I also moderate and participate in community management on other platforms and will use all my experience to best support you. I became qualified in user generated content moderation in both as a moderator and community management capacity. I now manage a community moderation team part-time and backend account support team. This has allowed me to get an in-depth knowledge of social media and how community engagement is essential to the modern world. I work with many organisations on internet safety and compliance with best moderation and safety practices. I also volunteer as a moderator on 5 different additional sites. I have met some people from Silver Daddies and I am up for meeting others. I will only meet in the United Kingdom, work does not allow me to travel long distances. We will not get involved in confrontational debates over chat room policy in the public chat rooms. This must be taken to private chat. Please try not to take any of the moderators' actions personally, we are here to keep the chat room environment safe and enjoyable for everyone. - Why am I being removed for bashing and what is mod bashing? Targeting anyone in the chat rooms is not tolerated. This is applicable to both if they are a moderator or a member of the site. It is also important to be aware that calling out a user in public to embarrass them comes under this rule. If you have a problem with a user, ignore them or contact a moderator in private message. Please keep it out of public chat as you risk getting caught in crossfire even if you are trying to help. - Why am I being warned for spreading information about email collectors/scammers in chat? Moderators are responsible for moderating the public chat rooms. You should never take infractions into your own hands to deal with. Moderators do not have access to read private messages, we therefore are unable to get the required evidence to act. You should ignore the offending user, contact the webmaster with the time/date of the private message exchanges and profile ID of the offender. The webmaster will then be able to take any required action, if necessary, by reviewing the logs. Note: Some moderators will log and collect data based on the number of reports received. Please be aware this is not official policy and will depend on the moderator's workload. - Can I give out my email or other personal information? Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is not to be given out in the main chat rooms. This is for your own protection and for the protection of others as we do not know if this information belongs to you. Your PII in the wrong hands can be misused and can have security implications. For example, if someone got access to your emails, they would then be able to reset all passwords for your online accounts including social media and banking applications. Email phishing and identity fraud are all other risks associated with PII. We strongly recommend being cyber security vigilant and to only give out this information to people online that you have known for a length of time and trust. Consider a safer route such as using a different email address just for your dating or online friends. To confirm PII covers phone numbers, email addresses, exact location info and social media profiles as examples. Giving out this information is not against site rules if done in private. You will not be removed for it. We also ask you do not make accusations in the main chat room towards users asking or giving out this information as they are not breaking any rules. Calling out users to embarrass them comes under the above information towards bashing. - Why am I being removed for asking Skype, WhatsApp etc? Advertising other social network platforms is not permitted in the chat rooms. Silver daddies is a service and encourages you to use the chat rooms to chat. Having the chat rooms flooded with advertisements is not the environment we want to set. The benefit of having human moderation is that the chat is taken into context. You can discuss Skype, WhatsApp etc in general conversation but do not advertise for people to use it in the chat rooms. - Why am I being removed for repeating? Repeating is where you are repeating the same message either by copy or paste or not changing the context to make it different from spam or advertising. The general rule here is that if you should watch how busy the chat room is and how fast it is moving. Are you repeating a message coming up often enough to cause an annoyance to other members? You will get a warning for repeating before you are removed. - What is trolling? Online trolling is where someone tries to deliberately bait someone online to respond in an emotional manner. They are trying to get a reaction from you. We strongly recommend you use "Win the war, use ignore" advice. The ignore button is your best friend in this situation. "Do not feed the trolls" It is important that you do not react and simply move on and take yourself out of the situation. Responding could get you removed from the chat rooms as the moderation team will have no interest in who started it as our mandate is to end it. There are other kinds of trolling that causes disruption. Such as sending consistent off topic messages to try and disrupt/cause annoyance in the chat rooms. Showing a trend of discontent towards someone and targeting them on regular intervals. General attempts to discredit the sites operations and bring Dennis/Moderators/SilverDaddies into disrepute. We have a zero tolerance against trolling. If a trend of behaviour is identified, you will not be given future warnings and immediately removed. - Where does the site stand with politics? Politics comes under the same rules as other discussions. If you can discuss controversial topics in a civil and respectful manner, then we encourage it. If you can't then it is best you keep it in a private message. - Why was I removed for illegal content? Illegal topics comes under the international regulations set in place for online content moderation. As set out in the site's terms and conditions any illegal content is not permitted. Examples of this include Incest, Bestiality, Terrorism, Obscenity, Safeguarding of minors (Under 18). Just like all other rules/polices, this depends on the context of such conversations. Discussions of past underage experiences is not illegal, however as such discussions are of a personal nature this should be taken to private chat to avoid other members feeling uncomfortable. If you have been abused in the past and would like to share with someone it is always recommended to get professional help than use online chat platforms. - Why is wife/women chat not allowed? The wife/women chat will again come down to the context that is being discussed. If you want to discuss females in a sexual manner, then this will not be tolerated by the team. If you want to discuss your wife or other females as part of a general discussion, then this is encouraged. SilverDaddies is a gay website and as such women are not officially allowed on the site. It is important this is respected. - How do I deal with problems in private messages? Moderators do not moderate your private messages. We are unable to see these logs and therefore do not have sufficient evidence to take action as we only moderate the public rooms. If you want to report something in private, please email the webmaster with the profile ID and the time/date. The logs can then be reviewed, and action taken. - Why have I been kicked? You will have been kicked for violating the rules or T & Cs of the site. Although some moderators (including myself) will be happy to go through the reasons for kicking you, the moderation team do not deal with kick disputes. These should be directed towards the webmaster. - I am having a technical issue with the website, what do I do? If you are experiencing problems with the site please try the following: Clear your web browser cache, then close and reopen the web browser. - Disable any conflicting web browser add-ons. - Try using an alternative web browser - Disconnect VPN software. - Mobiles will frequently disconnect to save battery especially when switching apps. Users who are on Macs using the Safari browser with the latest updates from Apple are finding they are getting kicked out of the chatroom when they open/view a profile. You can avoid this by making this setting adjustment: 1. Open Safari Settings and select Tabs 2. Under "Open pages in tabs instead of windows:", set the pull-down choice to "Never" - viewing profiles from chat should now again open the viewed profile without leaving the chat room! Other advanced troubleshooting is to ping the website to see if you can get a response. - Type cmd into the windows search, open Command Prompt. / If on Mac please search terminal on launchpad instead and perform the same steps below: - Type ping (followed by the website you want to ping that you would type in the address bar) - If you get a response, the issue will be browser related. If you can't get a response, try other websites and restart your router/network. See if other members are having similar issues. You will need to contact your ISP if the issue is localised to you as this is likely a DNS fault. PLEASE NOTE: Duck Duck Go browser is not compatible with the chat rooms. The chat will stop responding if you view a profile from within the chat room. Most problems with the site are related to web browsers and not the site itself. This covers the most common issues in the chat rooms. You can always speak to a moderator if you need anything specific clarified. Please be aware that moderation of user content is governed under the T & Cs of the service you are using. Freedom of speech, and other local jurisdiction laws do not apply and will not be accepted as an excuse to circumvent the sites T & C's. If you do have any problems relating to the rules or policies on the website, please understand that moderators do not have the authority to deal with such issues.
