Profile text:I am 78 years old, 6'3", 261#. Born in Texas but spent forty years first in Oklahoma and then in the Baltimore-Washington, DC, area. I was in Baltimore for about twenty years. I liked living in that area because of the history, convenience, and busyness.
I am a history buff, so the nearness to many places I had studied and read about in history classes was exciting. And it was just a short distance from New York, so I could get up there to see live shows, which is another of my enjoyments.
I enjoy history and live theater. I also dabble in genealogy and family tree tracing. I have learned a lot about my family and myself while chasing down a great-great-grandfather or two. I enjoy being with people, but I am a shy person. Some people interpret that as standoffishness. But it is just my shyness. I enjoy a good conversation and have been known to talk all night with someone about many different topics.
I moved back to Texas in 2014 and settled near family in a small Texas town that is your basic stereotypical bigoted, one-horse, cowboy town. There are no social activities or social venues here. If I want to go to a movie or shop, I must drive to another county. I even attend church in another county. If you are not into football, high school sports, horses and cattle, or grandchildren, there is nothing in this town for you. There is no gay culture here. I am not closeted, but I do not advertise either. My family knows, some people at my church (including the Priest), and a few acquaintances in the town know. Outside of them, there is no reason for anyone else to know. If asked directly, I will not deny it, but I don't offer the information. I do have a pride ring that I wear occasionally. I recently wore it to church without thinking. An older lady in the pew behind me noticed it and said she thought it was a pretty ring. I thanked her and didn't think any more about it. Then she said, "I have many friends of the flag." I was slightly surprised, but I thought that was an interesting phrase.
Socially, I am looking for friends and people to talk with and get to know. I would love to find an LTR, but I am happy with friendships and getting to know people. I would like to find folks in my region of Texas. If I have said anything that interests you, why not drop me a note? I will be glad to respond. Please have an active profile with a photo. By photo, I mean something other than a lower body part. I have one of those and have seen many others. I am fully protected, having had COVID initial shots and boosters.
Religion, spirituality, and basic kindness are very important to me. I am tentatively planning a trip to Jerusalem, Bethlehem area in 2025. I am currently learning Biblical Hebrew and hope to pick up a little modern Hebrew as I travel.
I would enjoy chatting with guys in the "Holy Lands" as well as locally.
