Profile text:Hi,
Graduate student doing my masters in nursing. I like to golf, surf, and go to museums. I play chess, guitar, and practice languages online.
I just moved from Columbia campus to midtown Manhattan. I live in a luxury building with an indoor pool, sauna, screening room, gym. It's in the Garment District, a few blocks from Times Square and Port Authority (38th/8th).
I wrote three autobiographical novels about my life. The first is "USA on $10K: How to Live in a Van & Travel America". That's about becoming a minimalist and doing the national park circuit.
The second is "USA No Way: How to Get Out & Stay Out". That's about living as an expat in Mexico during the pandemic. I got back into golf, surfing, guitar, etc.
I just finished the last one "USA Big Baby: How to NOT Kill Yourself Being a Fat Jerk". Basically, about the dual crises of obesity and mental health through the lens of a disabled veteran.
I was a medic in the navy and survived a traumatic brain injury (TBI), amongst other things. I've been medically retired since my early twenties.
I usually work per diem. Went back full-time during Covid and got burned out. Now, fully retired but will eventually have a remote informatics position for the government.
I don't promote my books, but they are all on Amazon under TimbuktubeOfficial. I have a social media and video Rumble channel under that name. I really need to record an audio version of my books to make them more accessible.
I am looking for other retired friends. It'd be great to have some intellectual discussions or, potentially, a travel partner. Please don't be perverted and quick to judgment, nor anger.
Please don't take your sexual frustration or shit life syndrome out on me, either. I'm sure you're all lovely people, but every time I'm on here I get undeserved skepticism and hate directed at me from guys twice my age.
I fly free and try to travel once a month. Usually to a veteran retreat or to visit friends and family. If you have an extra bedroom, maybe we can plan a visit.
I was wintering in Mexico until Covid lockdowns. Might get back to wintering abroad now that my mom has passed. Though, I'd like to stay close to NYC, as my father is now in assisted living and I have a young niece in the Hudson Valley.
I met a retired colonel travel buddy here. We split cruises for years but he's in assisted living now, too. Would be great to find someone to do that, again.
As far as a relationship, the good ones are always taken. People who want to be in a relationship find a way to do it. No excuses, just lots of compromises.
I also met my husband here. He's older and his son died of a TBI. We traveled too, but live apart and have had separate lives for years now.
Thanks,
Tim
