Profile text:Married gay man here to chat, flirt, and enjoy the company of the men of my generation. Not looking for a relationship or hookup. Just enjoying the scenery.
I have been deaf for most of my life so I depend on written communications to navigate life. I speak with the accent common to Texas & Oklahoma because I was born and raised in Oklahoma and mastered English long before I became deaf. Those deaf people who do not speak clearly likely were born deaf or lost their hearing in early childhood.
I was a sports writer for a national newspaper most of my working career because it didn't require the ability to hear. Before that I earned degrees in child development and creative writing. I specialized in fast pitch softball, covering college, international, and Olympic softball.
My greatest passion as a hobbyist is gardening and genealogy. Both are solitary endeavors that fit me like a glove. Inasmuch as popular culture eludes most deaf people (like film, music, public events) I fill my time with my hobbies and reading legal analysis, studies on gender non-conforming children (my college speciality in child development), and lots of gardening chatter on desert gardening, bonsai, and DIY gardening tips. It all serves to enrich my inner life and keep out the gloom that the isolation of deafness can evoke.
I'm not a gourmet cook but I do enjoy digging into new recipes about 4 or 5 times a week. Currently building my skills in Mexican food and in the entire category of "comfort foods". Upon reflection, it seems the name of the dishes I cook the most usually ends with "casserole". I get a lot of encouragement from my husband.
